Yet another WinMo 6.5 phone…

Posted by Welcome September 7, 2009

We knew that with the upcoming release of Windows Mobile 6.5 (October 6th) we should expect a few new phones armed with the new OS being added to our site, but the ‘few’ has turned into a flood. Well, as the saying goes, it never rains but it pours! Are you thinking of buying a WinMo 6.5 handset? Well, you really are going to be spoilt for choice come October!

The latest WinMo 6.5 beast comes in the form of the HTC Touch2, which joins the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 and Samsung Omina Lite in the ‘Coming Soon’ ranks today, here at mobiles.co.uk and as with the others, is expected in early October, with a release date that will likely coincide with the official release of Windows Mobile 6.5.

We won’t bore you and go into details about the new operating system again, because no doubt, like us, you’ll be sick of reading about how good the new interface is (even though it hasn’t even been officially released yet.) However, what we will tell you, is that the HTC Touch2 sports a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 2.8 inch TFT screen (65k colours) which puts it’s photo-capture capabilities on par with a lot of the competition in it’s class, and that actually, it’s compact size (in comparison to the likes of the monstrous Touch HD) makes it a serious consideration for a mid-range handset that you could actually use comfortably, without needing to have hands the size of a shovel.

We had a sneaky hands on look at the HTC Touch2 earlier in the week, and we have to say, we quite like it. That new operating system (that’s the last time i’ll mention it, honest) makes the whole experience feel much more fluid and involved compared with other HTC units which can sometimes feel laboured and unresponsive. You have the ability to use the default windows interface, which is very practical, or there is still the option to use the TouchFlo 2.0 which will be familiar to current HTC owners and will probably be the more widely chosen option, in our opinion; offering similar practicality, whilst being easier on the eye (it really is going to be a marmite situation.)

Click here to see more information about the HTC Touch2 or to register for updates. More importantly, keep an eye on the blog for more information and updates of other handsets, which i’m sure there’ll be plenty of between now and October.
